Dec 2025 and looking forward

December 2025

It was a good season, better than usual, mainly due to there being no cyclone, no pandemic and no anti- government protests to put a spanner in the works.

Whilst we are primarily a Mozambique offshore Fishing and Spearfishing lodge, we also cater for non fishing guests, now even more so than before.

Just before December  2025 we embarked on some reinvestment into the lodge and equipment, and it's this that I want to share so that you will be better informed for 2026.

Firstly let me say that we were full from 15th December 2025 until 4th January 2026. The lodge can sleep 20 guests in beds, and a few more on camping beds, and a few more overlanders.

These are the new developments :

a. Our new Restaurant with built-in pizza oven was opened on the 10th December 2025. We can now seat 40 people and another 20 in our existing bar/ Restaurant.
b. All  new bedding, towels, pillows, mats and bathroom accessories were added.
c. Hot water delivery is now changed from gas geysers, to wood and coconut husk fired geysers (donkeys) . More reliable.
d. We used 10l of varnish and 60l of fresh paint where it was needed.
e. Many people have not yet seen or swum in our new pool, that was completed in Dec 2024.
f. Upgraded fridges / freezers/ ice makers for cold drinks and ample ice.
g. New staff Accommodation.
h. Facilities for camping/overlanding with dedicated shower and toilet, and electrical outlet shortly (currently extension cord). We look forward to receiving more overlanders/ camping and please check us out on the overlander app.
i. Extended activities including, but not limited to:
Pansy island excursions
Ocean safaris
Estuary fishing
Sunset cruises
Trips across the bay to Barra and Tofo by boat.
City Tours
j. A wider range of choice with food and drink from our menu.
k. Kitchen was upgraded and retiled.
l. Starlink available for our guests.

We aspire to improve each month, and hope to find a solution with the road coming into the lodge, which has been badly neglected by the municipality. It seems now that we must take more matters into our own hands, at our expense.

Please remember to book timeously, especially for Dec 2026, as already there is limited space available due to early reservations. A non refundable deposit will apply with booking December/new year.

We look forward to hosting you, and making your holiday stay with us enjoyable and memorable. In the interim, we look forward to receiving our regular Fishermen and Spearos, and new ones, with some exciting tours and expeditions planned for 2026. I'll keep you posted. Good health and may the fish gods be kind to you.

2026 schedule of offshore Fishing/Spearfishing Mozambique.

Jan 8 I boarded a 50ft ketch Mono leaving Cape Town, South Africa, for a 3700 nautical mile trip to St Helena, Ascension Island ending in Cabedelo, Brazil. Should take 5 weeks.
😁. Another item off my bucket list, an ocean crossing!

From end Feb until the 15th july I will be at Silver Fish Lodge, Maxixe, Mozambique.

March and April will be fishing around Inhambane with a group of spearos coming the beginning of March, and some line fishermen coming at the end of March. Already booked, deposits paid.

April and May I have chartered Howie 50ft cat, Ypsilanti, for so far, two 5 day/night liveaboard trips to Pomene from Barra, Inhambane.

Fly into Inhambane airport, meet and greet, trf 20 min to the yacht, then leave same afternoon for a 50 mile cruise / sail north to Pomene. At daybreak we going to be unlimited fishing/ sparing. Space available if interested.

Still finalising final bookings, but the jiggers/ poppers would be singles who want to join an existing group. 6 max. Zar 15000 (usd 900) a head (subject to 6), which includes:

a.Trf to and from inhambane airport.
b.5 nights on a luxury iveaboard cat
c.Unlimited fishing, mostly jigging and popping.
d.All meals and water, soft drinks
e.Ice maker on board and big freezers to freeze fish.

Speak to me if you want a place. You not going to get that price again.

Then May and June I've booked Hugo, a 45ft cat, to fish the Primieras and Segunda out of Quelimane, Moçambique. Flying into Quelimane, from Maputo. This place is far offshore, and no locals go there. 30 km down a river, then over a sandbank, then overnight to a reef/ shoal which is 72 kilometers long, 50 km offshore. Check out David shoal, Pantaloons and Fogo island on Google.

Same same includes, as with the Pomene yacht, except this is a 6 night trip, and costs for a party of 6 is zar 23 000 (1400 usd) per person. Early bird catches the worm guys, space is limited.

Both places are remote, with good fishing, and the right time of year! Groups and singles welcome, speak to me!  Plenty fish, and the best times of the year to go!

15th July to 15th September I will be in Vilanculos. There I will be targeting big GT on poppers just off Linene Island. Price for charter of Rocknrolla is usd 750 per day. Full 9 hr days, boat only, fuel included. Accommodation organised at Boabab beach if needed. Boat will be moored at Boabab beach.

15th September until 15th November is Marlin season, the best months! I will be back at Silver Fish Lodge, Inhambane. The run to the deep blue is about an hour, and we fish a 9 hour day. Blue, Black and Striped Marlin. Give me 3 days to put you on one, or try your luck with a day!  Tackle supplied, includes fuel, boat lunch, drinks. Usd 850 for the boat. I have three weeks available.

December family time. Remember that there is limited space (only 20 beds), and we already have some bookings, so don't delay. Deposit required.

And that's the year guys, don't sleep on it, space is limited, speak to me and let's get a slot reserved ASAP. Deposits secure the best weeks. One life, live it!
